Association of IceCube neutrinos with radio sources observed at Owens Valley and Metsähovi Radio Observatories

چکیده
Identifying the most likely sources for high-energy neutrino emission has been one of main topics in astrophysics ever since first observation neutrinos by IceCube Neutrino Observatory. Active galactic nuclei with relativistic jets, also known as blazars, have considered to be candidates because their ability accelerate particles high energies. We study connection between radio and events using data from Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO) Mets\"ahovi blazar monitoring programs. identify our sample that are positionally consistent events. estimate mean flux density variability amplitudes around arrival time, compare these values random samples establish significance results. find source associations within 15 detected IceCube. Nearly half associated not $\gamma$-ray energies, but properties Doppler boosting factors similar objects sample, meaning they could still potential emitters. number strongly flaring statistically complete OVRO is unlikely a coincidence (at $2\sigma$ level). Based on results, we conclude although it clear all strong observations large-amplitude flares at same time event coincidence.

Directional correlations between UHECRs and neutrinos observed with IceCube
Ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECR) above an energy threshold of tens of EeV might undergo only small deflections due to interstellar magnetic fields. Their arrival directions would then point to regions of possible hadronic acceleration processes, which are likely to be also sources of high energy neutrinos. To search for such cosmic accelerators, we present here the first multi-messenger an...
متن کاملEstimating the Number of Wideband Radio Sources
In this paper, a new approach for estimating the number of wideband sources is proposed which is based on RSS or ISM algorithms. Numerical results show that the MDL-based and EIT-based proposed algorithm havea much better detection performance than that in EGM and AIC cases for small differences between the incident angles of sources. In addition, for similar conditions, RSS algorithm offers hi...
متن کاملRadio Wavelength Observatories and the Exploration Architecture
Introduction: Observations at radio wavelengths address key problems in astrophysics and astrobiology including the first light in the Universe (Epoch of Reionization), extrasolar planets, and particle acceleration. The requisite observations require access to wavelengths longer than those that penetrate the Earth's ionosphere, extremely " radio quiet " locations such as the Moon's far side, or...
متن کاملAURA - A radio frequency extension to IceCube
The excellent radio frequency transparency of cold polar ice, combined with the coherent Cherenkov emission produced by neutrinoinduced showers when viewed at wavelengths longer than a few centimeters, has spurred considerable interest in a large-scale radiowave neutrino detector array. The AURA (Askaryan Under-ice Radio Array) experimental effort, within the IceCube collaboration, seeks to tak...
